| 423659 | 2006-01-23 05:54:00 | Hey guys I was just wondering whther there would be a noticeable drop of speed if we change from a wired connection to a wireless connection. The computer and laptop would be around 15-20 metres apart, and the signal would have to pass through about 4 walls and a couple of closed doors. We have a 2mbps internet connection and i was planning to use a D-Link Router. Thanks in advance |

| 423660 | 2006-01-23 07:06:00 | From my experiences at my place, you won't notice a drop in speed IF you can get the wireless access point to get that range, I think you will have trouble getting a signal through that many obstacles, although the gear I'm using, Belkin, is a bit old now so newer technology stuff may be better. | Dak (6610) | ||

Thanks in advance You dont usually notice any reduction in WAN speed unless the signal gets really low but you will get a huge reduction in LAN speed so if you have two computers shared then copying files from to the other will slow very much. |
