423780 2006-01-25 03:25:00 haha. ATI drivers have been proven to be more stable. A fact.
Proven by who?

423781 2006-01-25 05:42:00 Since I am just an old farthead and don't game other than Spider Solitaire in the Windows package, and I rip a few movies and videos and dvd's, I actually like the GeForce 5500 UF OC I just got . It isn't really much improvement over the old 4400 I had . . . at least I can't see that much different .

Antialiasing and such doesn't mean too much to me other than a technology that I don't need or really use very much . . . if at all .

So . . . the 3D grafixs are pretty good and there aren't any smears on the screens and the pixels all seem to be in the right place at the right time

. . . . . . . . . . and that makes me smile .

It suits me very well . Besides, it didn't cost $400US or even $200US or even $100US . I got it off the shelf and got an instant dealer's rebate on it that took it below the magic century mark .

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . did I say I smile? ;)

They were really a great help.

423784 2006-01-29 02:49:00 This reminds me very much of when I lived in Australia . They said that the BMW bought from XYZ was a great car and I guess it is for that matter . The advert went on to say that we have this BIG SERVICE DEPARTMENT .

My thought was that if the BMW car was so good then why do we NEED service?

Therefore why does ATI have to update every month?

OMG I am flabbagasted at what I can only describe as ignorance .

New games come out monthly that often have problems with/and or Nvidia and ATI . ATi are quicker than Nvidia to fix the issues . Also performance gains are common in both driver sets by Nvidia and ATI .

Is more frequent updates a good thing or a bad thing? VIDEO CARDS ARE NOT CARS really bad comparison, its always a good thing! .

423785 2006-01-30 01:55:00 OP, here is a comparsion article for you.

www.tomshardware.com

Point of note is that BOTH card are dated now but should plau okay 1024x768, 1280x1024 will be pushing it abit with details up.

The ATI x800 does have twice the memory at same speed, twice pipeline, and only slightly slower core which can be overclocked at to perhaps 450-460mhz.
The ATI card however does not support shader 3 like the Nvidia card which is now being used alot in newer games.
Personally, I woulld try to get the video card upgraded to like a Geforce 7 series or ATI x1800
