423562 2007-10-31 02:19:00 any body know where to find a user guide for mini xp.
i have windows XP pro sp2. and it recently crashed. unknown if it was from a virus or what it proceeded to load windows log on screen then would give me a blue memory error screen which will only display for half a second.
then i would have to restart.and get no where again.. i only had about 2g or so of hard drive space..from a 80G drive.

but i dont have the original windows xp pro disk, computer was bought second hand.. and not included with the computer.

so tried mini xp
proceeded to load the mini xp disk that i had previously burned from a different computer the program i used to burn the disk was called HIRENS BOOT CD v9.3
so it did its job and i can load a stripped down windows. so when i found my data from before the system crash how do i restore the system to original state. when i try to open files and programs to try to restore or preform a system restore from a nero back up ,...its says found no dll file for the program im trying to open do i have to reinstall the programs...ne help would be helpful thanks

423563 2007-10-31 03:57:00 MiniXP isn't a standard release of XP but rather a regular joe's nLite flavour of XP that he's decided to call MiniXP. All the help you can get on "MiniXP" is probably distributed with this warez version of XP. What you're asking isn't really kosher here actually.

I'd pass on this "MiniXP" version you got off a mate as it sounds like more hassle than its worth. Just nLite one off your own copy of XP if you own one...

Also, it's a waste of time removing IE from XP, its so tightly integrated with the OS that you're just asking for trouble by removing it. Also, there was a version of WinXP that came without WMP called Windows XP N but again I think its a waste of time really. XP can be slimmed up but removing IE and WMP makes for a more unstable system off the bat IMHO.

423565 2008-03-21 21:11:00 Try Nlite (www.nliteos.com) It is a program for making a customised version of your Windows 2000/XP CD.
I swear by it.

It can integrate service packs, drivers and other programs as well as strip off unused Windows components. Games that come with Windows for example.

When done it will make a ready to burn ISO image.
Bundle it with RyanVM's (www.ryanvm.net) Post XP Service Pack 2 Updates and you have a lean mean Windows Machine.

So I downloaded NLite and the current xp updates from ryanvm but cant figure out how to add them to nlite. The instructions say something about finding the install.exe file but there is none after extracting RyanVM. Please help

423566 2008-03-22 02:34:00 Run it on a virtual pc first, then if it dies (the virtual pc), you can just delete it.

423567 2008-03-22 05:20:00 So I downloaded NLite and the current xp updates from ryanvm but cant figure out how to add them to nlite. The instructions say something about finding the install.exe file but there is none after extracting RyanVM. Please help

You have to copy the XP cd to a folder on the hdd or point Nlite to the XP cd / I386 folder.

It needs a copy of the original XP cd files, so it can add whatever files to those files (after youve copied them to the hdd).

Then select what you want (like hotfixes etc) after that then next then insert that 7z file from Ryanvm in it. It may or may not work, Nlite will tell you if it doesnt work.

Then continue until Nlite extracts / compresses the rest of the files you've added or removed. Then it'll give u an option to make an ISO then burn it.
