2006-01-25 19:45:00 | Trademe with Firefox on Linux (Gentoo) is fine now, maybe the server was down when you tried? | Myth (110) | |
2006-01-25 20:25:00 | Still the same no joy after long "waiting for trademe" | kjaada (253) | |
2006-01-25 20:37:00 | I assume you have tried an alternative browser? Perhaps try reinstalling FF. I had a similar issue where FF wouldn't load half the sites I attempted, giving me the same error - this was fixed with a reinstall. | pixeldust (6619) | |
2006-01-25 20:37:00 | Is it only this one particular website? Try clearing out your internet cache. | Jen (38) | |
2006-01-25 20:49:00 | It is only one site.Have tried many more and no problem.Have also clearing cache, history etc.Bit reluctant to reinstall as it is a big download on dialup. | kjaada (253) | |
2006-01-25 21:19:00 | Are you manually typing the URL into the address bar or accessing the site via a bookmark? Doesn't Xandros have another browser? I'm not sure how they have customised Xandros KDE, but you could try using the File Manager (Konqueror) to see if the page loads OK. | Jen (38) | |
2006-01-25 21:33:00 | Both bookmarks and type in don't work.Just tried filemanager nd got URL ok | kjaada (253) | |
2006-01-25 22:03:00 | Try this then. Make sure Firefox is closed first. Go into your home directory and select View > Show Hidden Files. Look for the folder called .mozilla (note the fullstop at the start of the name). Right click on the folder and select rename - call it .original_mozilla. Now open up Firefox again and at the Import Wizard select "don't import anything". You will get a default new Firefox. Try typing in the URL and see whether the page loads or not. If it doesn't, close Firefox and go back and delete the new .mozilla which has been created and rename your .original_mozilla back to .mozilla (remember the fullstop). If it does work, then go back into the .original_mozilla directory and look for your bookmarks.html file. Copy this to the home directory and then use the Firefox Bookmark Manager to import the old bookmarks from your home directory location. You will need to re-download any themes or extensions installed into the new Firefox.
