424447 2006-01-26 20:32:00 Just wanted to check that you can use telstra cable internet with a wireless router. Currently we have XTra but might change after our contract runs out, so we don't want to buy a router and then find out in a couple of months time that it doesn't work.

Also does the internet for cable come through your original phone points or somewhere else.

Thanks

424448 2006-01-26 21:03:00 Depends if you're talking about Telstra ADSL or Telstra Cable Broadband. We have TCL cable broadband installed, for which they use specific TCL cabling into your property (the same as if you have Saturn TV). It doesn't go anywhere near the phone lines. If you're talking about ADSL, this uses your existing phone lines.

We have a Dlink wireless router setup with no problems sharing between 1 x Mac, 1 x iBook and 1 x notebook. Never had any issues with it.

424450 2006-01-27 01:11:00 If you're hooking up the firewall+WAP combo to a separate ADSL modem via an Ethernet network cable, you should be OK.

If it's an integrated firewall+ADSL modem+WAP combo, I'm not so sure.
