424569 2006-02-02 19:44:00 I reinstalled my sound stuff, and my mic works. There's only one problem..It's very very very quiet..I can yell into it and you can barely hear me. I bought a new mic lastnight and it's the same way..Anyone know of anything that'll boost the sound or something..? CAPTAINCAPSLOCK (9696)
424570 2006-02-04 19:12:00 have you been to dxdiag -neworking to test your mike
it is normally a good guide to hardware problems

424571 2006-02-05 01:02:00 Did you turn on the mike pre-amp? SurferJoe46 (51)
424572 2006-02-05 01:07:00 Sound cards are usually short of space for sockets on the back panel. Perhaps the soundcard's "mic" socket is also used for "line", with a setting to change the amplification. That would explain the very low signal. Graham L (2)
424573 2006-06-05 16:15:00 I checked everything..I reinstalled my sound drive, and my mic WORKED..for a few days..then it quit :( I forgot to save the link to the driver update page, could anyone provide a reliable site for a Realtek AC'97 audio drive update? CAPTAINCAPSLOCK (9696)
424574 2006-06-05 16:43:00 This is maybe grabbing at straws, but I goofed a soundcard install for a friend (we still talk to each other...but for a while it was touchey!), and I set the output to digital instead of analog.

Might you have that problem too? You could have some program insisting on digital output when all you can use is analog and it's toggling to digital without you knowing.

Just a thought.........

424575 2006-06-16 15:50:00 Well, I've tried EVERYTHING..I've even had a computer guy look at it and he was stumped..I've given up and I'm going to get a new sound card. I'm looking at this sound card (www.compusa.com) at the moment, does anyone recommend it? If not, do you recommend any others? CAPTAINCAPSLOCK (9696)
424576 2006-06-16 17:25:00 Well, I've tried EVERYTHING . . I've even had a computer guy look at it and he was stumped . . I've given up and I'm going to get a new sound card . I'm looking at this sound card ( . compusa . com/products/product_info . asp?pfp=SEARCH&product_code=315999&Pn=SoundBlaster_Live!_24_bit_Sound_Card" target="_blank">www . compusa . com) at the moment, does anyone recommend it? If not, do you recommend any others?

I just installed the exact same one for a friend . . it is quite good, although it lacks a few gadgets that I want for myuself .

It works well, and I think that brand has a lot going for it as to durability and features .

If you are not going to demand pristine sound and effects, then this is a good choice .

BTW: how does "a computer guy" become stumped? The title requires at least some insight . ;)

You would think so wouldnt ya, but a lot of "computer guys" arent what they're cracked up to be....at the company I used to work for they had this tech that would come in for a hefty fee, and one day he couldnt even get my boss's pc to print across the network...told himn it wasnt possible....he hadnt event setup the microsoft networking client.......lol....about 10 minutes fluffing around was all it took....I guess he liked to make work for himself....
