2006-01-28 01:31:00 | Hi, I cannot open trademe.co.nz. I have looked at all possibilities (for a layman that is), included them in trusted sites etc etc. Tried to access with firewall turned off, but nothing works. I used to be able to access if I kept refreshing the page "Cannot find server or DNS Error" but sometimes it would take ages and then each page would have the same problem. Now I cannot get it at all. I have Norton Anti-Virus and Zone Alarm firewall (my Norton firewall starting causing problems so a PC guy recommended and downloaded Zone Alarm). I have contacted Trademe in the past with no sucessful results from their suggestions. I have even tried contacting my internet provider slingshot but they won't even reply. I am a bit loathe to pay the pc guy to come out again as last time it took a couple of hours and he didn't really find anything wrong, just suggested shutting down Norton Firewall and using Zone Alarm (which admittedly did work) but it cost a bit for it. Any suggestions most appreciated as I really want to use trademe.

I'm wondering if you might have become "protected" from the site. Try using the Search utility, looking for "files containing" trademe.co.nz . |

2006-01-28 01:49:00 | Hi Folks Same as kiwigirl above-I have not been able to log in to Trademe for the last few hours-operation "times out" in Firefox. All other websites are fine-e.g I was just able to register here to post this message:). I have tried rebooting which also hasn't helped. Darn, thought that fixed everything! One can't email Trademe to ask them, as you have to contact them via their website these days. This is awkward at times like these and I suggest some consideration of such issues might improve their service. But anyway I think Trademe is down, for more than one of us.

2006-01-28 01:50:00 | Thanks Graham, the bottom line says "Cannot find server or DNS Error". Tried using the search button on the IE bar and it wouldn't come up, couldn't find the page or wasn't available | kiwigirl (9540) | |
2006-01-28 01:54:00 | I meant the Windows search, not an Internet or browser one. If "trademe.co.nz" appears in a file called "hosts", for example, it might be barred on your machine. There are other ways to do this ... I think Windows XP includes one. | Graham L (2) | |
