| 424599 | 2006-01-26 21:36:00 | The Select All button is dimmed in the Styles and Formatting pane, and I can't figure out why. I've tried with different documents, and even spent some time navigating the Microsoft pages - even the Styles tutorial! As far as I can make out, it should be working properly - but it isn't. Any help appreciated. | colmack (2939) | ||

Also, you can go to organizer and see if you can load styles from the global template to the document. I'm not sure if this is your answer, but it's something to try. Good Luck! |

| 424601 | 2006-01-27 04:47:00 | Thanks . LJ . Today's miracle is that I actually got a response from Microsoft - the first time for me (and perhaps ever :D ) I posted the same question and got this reply: This feature is disabled if you don't have "Keep track of formatting" checked on the Edit tab of Tools | Options . -- Suzanne S . Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA and, by golly, she's absolutely right! So thanks anyway - I've posted this for your info, and if anyone else with the same problem ever follows this thread . |

| 424602 | 2006-01-27 20:11:00 | colmack: I just thought I'd let you know that the MVPs are "not Microsoft". While they have been recognized by MS as experts, they do not WORK for Microsoft--everything they do is voluntary. MS does provide that server for questions to be asked and answered, but in no way are the MVPs otherwise related to MS. :) | Dreamboat (9170) | ||
| 424603 | 2006-01-27 21:09:00 | Thanks for the clarification, Dreamboat - I didn't know that. I'm very glad MVPs exist though! I've always had a lot of respect for Word, if not so much for its parent company. It was such a hassle even getting my request through that I was very pleasantly surprised to get a response - and a straightforward, 100% correct one at that, from someone who obviously knows their stuff. BTW I've checked out MVPs and added their page to my bookmarks - I can see an awful lot of good stuff here. I'd not heard of them till you brought this to my attention, so thanks again. |

| 424604 | 2006-01-27 22:04:00 | Yep. And Suzanne's been an MVP for as long as I can remember, which would be about 10 years, at least. :) | Dreamboat (9170) | ||

Could you please post the Web page address for the web page you have book marked. |
