424280 2006-01-26 01:49:00 Hello everybody,

I am a new member on this forum so forgive me for any mistakes that i might
make.
Anyways right now i am dual booting Windows XP home edition and
Fedora core 3 and i have two 56k internal modems for both of which i can't find
and make any drivers work for FC3.
So i have decided to buy an external
modem which was suggested by many other people. So my question is that which external modem should i buy to use with FC3 ? I went on google and found one on the Pricespy website (www.pricespy.co.nz) . Will it work?
Thanks for reading.

It looks as if they ran out of those modems . . . it's flagged as "deleted" .

The rule for hardware is to ask Google . The make and model, and the word "linux" is usually enough . You could try "Fedore 3" instead . . . That sort of search will usually find if there are problems with the product . Sometimes it will find fixes for any problems .

Have a look at the linmodems . org site for internal modems . That's the source . You might find a hardware compatibility list for Fedora . Red Hat probably still have one, so look at their site . If it works for Red hat, it will almost certainly work for Fedora .

424282 2006-01-26 03:47:00 I take it that you are after a dialup modem? If so you might be better off looking for an external on Trademe as a lot of the people migrating to ADSL may be flogging theirs off cheaply .

The dialup modem that I used with Fedora Core 1 and 2 was a Dynalink 56K e-modem 1456VQE-C which Linux had no problems with . I assume that would be the case with Core 3 as well .
