424922 2006-01-28 16:21:00 Hi guys!
It looks like a tricky one.
Windows is loading, then I have to type password. But the keyboard id dead. Cant get to Safe start and Bios-Delet not responding. All started when I plugged in graphic tablet at USB port when PC was working ok. Even pulling out the power coard, removing Tablet and using other keyboard did not help.

PC is Pent2 WinXP home, Mobo Epox

Kicking and swaring did not work ether.

Thanks for ideas.

424923 2006-01-28 19:23:00 I've been there with usb keyboards and there's no easy fix. If your other keyboard was also usb best thing to do is go buy a really cheap PS2 keyboard and plug it in so you can type password... I'd be surprised if a PS2 keyboard wouldn't work as Windows loads drivers etc by default.

If your other keyboard you tried was Ps2 and it still didn't work you could be in trouble as there's obviously no way to type password. Might require re-install of Windows.

424924 2006-01-28 22:19:00 Thanks!
Now, without keyboad how do I get to Bios and Boot from CD? BTW, both kbrds are Ps2, it is Tablet that is USB. But the Tablet is out now.
I put in WinXP CD but it did not help, I recon without BIOS setup.

424926 2006-01-28 23:12:00 Thanks, will have to get one! taly (5956)
424927 2006-01-29 00:45:00 a usb keyboard proberly won't work on a p2 system unless you turn the options on in the bios. a ps2 keyboard should work outside of windows. if you can't get into the bios (or boot disk) then either the keyboard is dead or the ps2 port is dead. just check the pins, seen a few with bent pins before. if the ps2 port is dead then get a new mobo or new pc. tweak'e (69)
424928 2006-01-29 03:01:00 There's no way to get into Bios and change things without a keyboard as you need up and down arrows to move around bios. Tweake's pretty much right and checking the pins for PS2 is a good idea, however my 'new' MB had the USB keyboard support enabled by default (I'm not sure if that's normal though), you might be lucky trying a usb keyboard. 424930 2006-01-29 07:58:00 Great!

I'd say don't tempt fate and try to fix the PS2 keyboard, if the USB works stick with that... way cheaper than a new mobo :badpc:
