| 425632 | 2006-01-31 02:59:00 | Thanks Speedy, I think my card is an nVidia card and now that I think about it I think I had to roll back the drivers to get a game to play correctly awhile back. However the thing that I thought was strange is that I am not using the TV out port at all, just watching it on the monitor! Anyway will give it a try tonight. Cheers |

Hmm cant say I've heard of any probs just trying to play DVD's on the moniitor. BUT, it sounds like it has something to do with Macrovision. BUT you will, or used to have probs, when using earlier versions of the Nvidia drivers, thru video out (It may also happen to later versions as well). I never tried with later versions. Atho, now I've got an ATI 256mb card. My old card was a FX5200. Which is now in the other PC here. Since I installed dvd x player (the link I posted previously). This program plays anything and everything. So, it wouldnt matter what kind of video drivers are installed. |

Hey, just letting you know that VLC does not bypass the drive region if the dvd has RCE on it I think. I tried 3x Zone 4 dvds on the laptop that has the drive stuck on Zone 1 and one of them will not play even in VLC. It tries to read the disc but then just stops. Even DVD Decrypter won't read this disc. It says something about it being unable to find the CSS key and do you want to try a brute force attack and I said yes but it still doesn't work :( No firmware for this drive either :( |
