| 425930 | 2006-02-01 02:12:00 | Hey ive just put a computer together for my brother. 3000+ Athlon Xp DFI LanParty Ultra B MotherBoard 512Mb DDR400 ram 250GB SATA HD 128MB Geforce 6600GT Graphics Card And when you turn it on it will bearly make it through the BIOS posting before it shuts it self down. You can press F1 and get into the BIOS config but then after a couple of seconds it will shut down. It was doing this before i got the HardDrive into it but then when i put the HD in i was able to get into the Raid Config and format it without any sign of it wanting to shut down and as soon as i restarted it got up to the Boot from CD option and then shut it self down. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?????? :badpc: |

| 425938 | 2006-02-01 03:17:00 | It may well be due to the heatsink not sitting down properly onto the cpu. The stock fan should be ok. It would pay you start all over again, removing the motherboard, laying it on a flat surface, remove cpu heatsink, and then re-seat it. If it had a thermal pad, then that may have to be removed, cleaned and thermal paste applied. 50C is a good average temperature to expect, some people will claim less, some more, a lot depends on ambient temperature and air flow through case to remove heat from cpu and video chips. |
