| 426426 | 2006-02-02 19:16:00 | I write a lot of reports at work, and they get constantly edited and reviewed by both myself and management. I started to think that some form of version control in the footer (esp. for printed copies) would be useful for keeping track of documents for my records. I envisaged something very simple like starting with version 1.0, with the number incrementing by 0.1 every time the document was saved. I could manually adjust the number each time, but it's time consuming and could easily be overlooked. Is there an automated way to do this? Cheers Lizard |

An easy way to manage a document is to create a network share, and insist everyone making changes save to a new file name, such as yyyy-mm-dd hh-mm filename.doc 2006-02-03 09-05 Acme magic paint.doc A Word macro could be created to automate this process. |

Then I thought a bit and tried "version control word". Guess what, It seems that there is some form of version control in Word2000, at least. |
