427440 2006-02-05 20:16:00 Did you buy this system thru the PC World site, (from an advertisement), or win it or something?

Since you've just reinstalled XP, have you installed the audio/soundcard drivers off the motherboard/system cd? XP wouldnt install the drivers by default. You also HAVE to install the motherboard drivers, after you reinstall XP.

When u say XP was pre-installed, did it come with an XP cd? Or was XP on a hidden partition on the hard drive?

427443 2006-02-05 20:43:00 Look in device manager. See if there are any ?'s there.

If there are any ?'s here, thats whats missing in the way of drivers, for whatever is installed.

This (www.asrock.com) looks like the site for your system.

This (www.asrock.com) is the drivers and BIOS page.

427444 2006-02-05 20:48:00 theres a ? next to other devices/multimedia audio controller.im not sure exactly what that relates to,

Should i just download and install all the drivers for my system?
fent (9751)
427445 2006-02-05 20:54:00 Then that is what the problem might be, right click on it and go update driver, it might find something on the net or you might have to insert the MOBO disc, what does it say after this?

It is the sound drivers I think.

HTH

427446 2006-02-05 20:54:00 Hmm the sound isnt working at the mo, is it?

I would download the Cmedia Audio drivers from the site I posted previously for the soundcard. Unzip this file after u download it, and install it. That should fix the sound.

Also click on each + in device manager. See if there are any more ?'s there.

I would also get the LAN drivers from the same site. If your network card doesnt work. A ? should, or may appear under network adapters in device manager.

I would also download and install the SiS AGP PCI-to-PCI Bridge Drivers
(install this first, then the LAN, then the soundcard drivers).

Nah, dont use update driver thru Device Manager. Download, unzip and install the drivers from the Asrock site.

427448 2006-02-05 21:02:00 You HAVE to UNZIP them first with something like Winzip (http://www . winzip . com) or a program that can unzip zip files .

After you unzip the files, look for a setup . exe file .

Hopefully ALL of those zip files have a setup . exe in them .

Double click on this file, to install the drivers .

You may have to reboot, after each driver has been installed .

USB connection? So you have a USB soundcard or something as well?
