428023 2006-02-07 10:26:00 Hi all,
I have quite old desktop (P3 450mhz, 2 x 10gig HD, 256mb ram, DVD ROM - unknown brand and HP CD writer) all running Win XP - SP2.

The problem is with my DVD-ROM drive. At the beginning everything was ok. Since then I installed (and uninstalled) many software (even OS -originally it was Win 98se). Nowadays it reads CDs without any problems, it reads PCWorlds DVDs ok (opens web page and i can navigate to it by explorer), it plays DVD movies but it can not read DVDs with files that i made on my laptop with DVD burner. It can not read the files that were finalised on SONY DVD camera as well. I tried writing files on both formats +R and -R without any difference.

Any ideas?

428024 2006-02-07 11:36:00 Most likely a media problem that can be fixed by trying several different brands of disc, but insted of buying a bunch of different brand discs to try it would probally be cheaper to buy a new DVD rom drive, new they cost around $50 - $60. Rob99 (151)
