427889 2006-02-07 01:11:00 I have a BENQ 1625 DVD burner. I have had problems with Nero's INCD. The drive doesn't always recognise there is a blank disc in there. I think INCD is stuffing things up but can't be sure. When I erase a DVD RW with INCD it spits the disc out before it is finished erasing and then when I put the disc back in the drive it insists there is no disc in the drive.

I tried uninstalling Nero and it worked temporarily and then used Intervideo's WINDVD Recorder to format the disc for recording and the same thing happened: when I put the disc back in the drive I'm told there is no disc.

Don't know now if it is INCD or WINDVD Recorder or the drive itself.

Any ideas?

427890 2006-02-07 01:27:00 If Windvd recorder lets u format like Incd or Directcd, its a possibility that they're conflicting.

I would stick to one or the other, or use Nero for formatting DVD/CDR's and CDRW/DVDrw's. (Altho you dont have to format normal cd blanks either).

Just add whatever files then burn them, then keep multisession open if u want to add to it later.

And Nerovision for burning to DVD-r's or +'s.

Are you formatting it, so u can copy data files to the dvd?

As you dont have to format the dvd if you're burning a file to the dvd, to play it in a dvd player.

427891 2006-02-07 02:17:00 WINDVD Recorder wouldn't record to DVD until I had clicked on the "format" button. But after I had formatted the disc it still wouldn't record! I am using it to record TV from my tuner card and it has the best recording quality I have seen. I was keen to use its direct to disc function so I can watch the recorded DVDs with my DVD player on my TV. stevesumner (4849)
427892 2006-02-07 02:24:00 How fast is your system Steve? Coz I think direct to disk would burn on the fly? Burn to the DVD while youre watching it?

Doesnt it have an option to save to the hdd first?? as an Mpeg?

427893 2006-02-07 02:47:00 System is 2.8 ghz with 512 mb ram. There is an option to burn to HDD as Mpeg. Quality is good. I guess I could just do that and burn the disc later. Just seems nice and convenient to burn direct to the disc. My other option is to use WINDVD Creator (it worked last time I tried it but may have to check it still does) but that only has a small preview screen so can't watch and record at the same time. stevesumner (4849)
427894 2006-02-07 02:50:00 Hmm ok. Sounds like the leadtek tuners I use here, the program u use for both lets u record as an Mpeg to hdd or to DVD too.

I usually record to the hdd, then use Nerovision to burn it to dvd. Since most of what I record, is over the size of a dvd. Then I can edit then burn it in Nerovision. Its just as good as a DVD.

427895 2006-02-07 03:33:00 I would say you're having probs coz:

1 . You're using rewriteables .

2 . You're formatting the rewriteable dvd . You dont format blank dvd's before you burn something to DVD .

3 . Use normal DVD + or - blanks .

4 . Save them to the hdd, as Mpegs . Then edit, then burn them . With something like Nerovision .

5 . Or use something else besides Windvd recorder, if it insists that u format a dvd before it burns to it . (This maybe coz you're using rewriteables) . It may not ask you to format the dvd, if its a normal blank dvd .

427896 2006-02-08 01:17:00 May do . I think the original problem was due to wnaspi32 . dll in system32 folder was Adaptec and Nero didn't like it . It is working now I have replaced it with the Nero wnaspi32 . dll .

I may also try 4x DVD RWs tonight . Was using 2x and I am thinking maybe they were too slow .

427897 2006-02-08 01:38:00 Hmm ok .

BUT if you want to play whatever dvd u burn, on a standalone dvd player, dont format the dvd .

A standard dvd player wont be able to read it / play it . The only thing that'll play it, will be your computer dvd .

The same goes for audio cd's . If u burn MP3's as is or as audio files, u dont format the cd beforehand either .

427898 2006-02-08 06:27:00 I dont think you can record & burn on the fly like that as you will get buffer underruns all the time, caz their wont be enough continuous data to record. As speedy says, record to HDD 1st then burn! SolMiester (139)
