2006-02-06 22:46:00 | Hi Team I have a problem with email communication to an overseas business forum. I originally registered using my business domain email address [me@mybusiness.co.nz] and at the time this domain was hosted on a private server. I have since shifted my domain hosting to Orcon and my email as above is now mapped to the address [myname@orcon.co.nz]. Unfortunately, this means that my email is no longer recognised by the overseas server and is rejected. It is a private and very secure site, so I assume that my mail is rejected because the server is seeing the mail source as [myname@orcon.co.nz] instead of [me@mybusiness.co.nz]. I am having a mental block on this problem, because as I see it, I can't simply reregister to fix the problem because my business email address hasn't changed and I don't want to change it either. If I delete the present entry, I will only replace it with exactly the same address [me@mybusiness.co.nz] as this is the source that I want displayed on any emails I send. If I reregister as [myname@orcon.co.nz] and send emails from my mapped address [me@mybusiness.co.nz], which address will be displayed, or does the outcome depend entirely on how the overseas site is configured? Cheers Billy 8-{) P.S. At present the old server is actually still operational, so I am able to send through that for the present but it won't last much longer.

2006-02-06 23:03:00 | If you send an email addressed to me@mybusiness.co.nz when you receive it is it showing From me@mybusiness.co.nz or myname@orcon.co.nz | Safari (3993) | |
2006-02-06 23:28:00 | Just update your profile with the new email addy or get a redirect or pay Orcon to host your old email addy (I presume you are still the registrant of the name). | Murray P (44) | |
2006-02-07 00:03:00 | I have a redirect to my home email from the business one. It was with Orcon once but I had too many problems because they use Spamcop so dumped them.

2006-02-07 02:13:00 | Just update your profile with the new email addy or get a redirect or pay Orcon to host your old email addy (I presume you are still the registrant of the name). Umm... Orcon already host my email address via mapping (redirect?) and I cannot change the address because it is my business domain name. I can't ask the other Forum because they don't have the expertise to answer the question, they are nothing to do with computing and it would be a hell of a job to even explain the problem. Fortunately Safari provided the answer I needed, which had been staring me in the face all along (I did say I was having a mental block. :() I sent an email from my domain name address to myself at another address I have at Freenet and it showed the correct sender details. I guess that's what mapping means. Thanks for the help, all i have to do now is change my details and all will be well. Cheers Billy 8-{)

2006-02-08 07:23:00 | Oh dear . :( I'm still in trouble . I had to add my base Orcon email address to the forum list of authenticated addresses I could use to send from, but with that done and verified, when I then try to send a post to the forum using my domain address via my Orcon account, I get a relaying denied message, which I assume is coming from Orcon . the actual message is below: The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server . Server Response: '550 . 7 . 7 <forummembers@yahoogroups . com> . . . Relaying denied . Proper authentication required . (Account:Business-New, SMTP Server" 'smtp . orcon . net . nz' Error number: 0x800ccc79) . Now, I am sending using my mapped business domain address via my Orcon account but this is rejected as relaying, but I can send without difficulty if I use the base account address which is myname@orcon . net . nz I can also use any combination of my old host, freenet and xtra accounts to exchange emails no problem . Is this "relaying" issue an Orcon problem that I need to talk to them about? Cheers Billy 8-{)
