427562 2006-02-06 01:31:00 at first it was just the optical drives, and while trying to get them to work everything else stopped working.
eeach drive is tiny, like 800MB , 2000MB, 4000MB, and the optical drives are your run of the mill 52x readers.

in the past the optical drives have always worked perfectly, but now they dont, and ive tried 3 diferent drives dso far and the bios doesnt detect them.

427563 2006-02-06 01:37:00 So, how many hard drives / optical drives are in the system??

Are the 800MB , 2000MB, 4000MB all on one hdd (partitioned), or separate hard drives (3 of them)?

If that pic is what you're seeing now, the primary and secondary masters/slaves shouldnt be on None. Put them on AUTO.

Click on enter, and go into the primary secondary master/slave settings.

And then save the BIOS settings. And if it doesnt work (it still shows None, after u save the settings), replace the battery, and reconfigure the BIOS settings.

427564 2006-02-06 01:44:00 3 seperate drives, this isnt in the bios this is when its posts, in teh bious i set them to auto which is why ive now got a problem =(

427565 2006-02-06 01:49:00 Its either the battery is nearly dead, or you've connected the ide cables the wrong way round, / back to front, on the hdds/cd's whatever .

Or you havent connected the power to all the ide devices in the system .

When u put them on AUTO in the BIOS, did it show the brand/model of the hdd's/burners, whatever?

If it doesnt, its one of the above (wrong way round, or no power is going to them) . So, the BIOS can detect them .

Make sure its on either slave or master, not cable select .
