427514 2006-02-05 22:46:00 I'm basically at my wit's end trying to solve this, when I try and install Windows 2000 on my new computer it comes up with an error saying "Inaccessable Boot Device" after Setup has loaded the install files - it's a totally new computer, 3.2Ghz LGA775 P4, 2GB of DD2667 RAM, Asus P5LD2 motherboard, a 200GB IDE drive, a 120GB SATA drive and a Geforce 7800GT graphics card so I have no idea why it's doing this. It's only got a DVD-ROM so I thought that was the problem for a while, but I tried it with a normal CD-ROM and the problem still came up. I've tried doing it with each hard drive plugged in soley and I've tried rearranging where the DVD-ROM and the IDE drive are plugged in to no avail, I've even tried using different IDE cables with the thought that they might be the problem. I've also tried with two different Windows 2000 cds (Server and professional) and still nothing. Both hard drives are blank, the SATA is unformatted and the IDE is just blank NTFS. Has anyone had a similar problem and solved it? Or could you perhaps give me some ideas to try?

Thanks in advance!

427515 2006-02-05 22:50:00 Which drive are you trying to install it on the IDE or the SATA drive ? Try installing it on the drive you didnt first try. Overdrive_5000 (4950)
427516 2006-02-05 22:52:00 Well I can't select a drive - I get that error right after setup tries to load, after it finishes loading all those drivers and whatnot. hummingbird42 (7830)
427517 2006-02-05 22:55:00 Oh ok you could try disconnecting the SATA drive for the time being Overdrive_5000 (4950)
427518 2006-02-05 22:58:00 Ah sorry made a typo in my original post, it's meant to say that I've tried doing it with each drive plugged in *solely* hummingbird42 (7830)
427519 2006-02-06 02:04:00 Noone with any ideas, then? :( hummingbird42 (7830)
427520 2006-02-06 02:07:00 Have u configured the BIOS yet?

Since you dont select the drive to boot from in the Windows setup, u change it in the BIOS .

Which model mobo have u got?

The P5LD2, the deluxe, the VM, the SE, or the P5LD2-V?

427521 2006-02-06 04:44:00 Yeah I've set up the BIOS, the motherboard is just the plain P5LD2. hummingbird42 (7830)
427522 2006-02-06 05:06:00 So, which hdd have u configured in the BIOS as the bootdisk?

The IDE or the SATA?

If SATA have u connected power to it??

I'm not sure if your mobo header supplies power as well as data . BUT the headers on most mobos that have SATA, are only for data, not the power .

Do both hdd's get detected in the BIOS?

427523 2006-02-06 05:31:00 This post (forums.rojakpot.com) seems to have the same probs. But, with XP.

Are you getting this stop message?

***STOP 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0x0000032, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

The virus option in the BIOS isnt enabled is it?
