| 427533 | 2006-02-05 22:25:00 | Hi fellow PF1ers. I have a problem with my slave HDD not being recognised as a 40GB drive. It comes up as 2GB. The BIOS recognises the full size 40GB but on My Computer the properties reads 2GB. (I can read all the details on the start up screen, now that it is in English and not GREEK for those of you who helped out on that fiasco!) How do I get Win XP to recognise the entire drive? I have had a search of previous posts and all I found were about getting the BIOS to recognise the size nothing about Win XP. I know the solution will be simple :help: Many thanks Meg |

| 427534 | 2006-02-05 22:33:00 | What if u go to control panel / admin tools / computer management / disk management . And try and format it here? Does it still see 2GB? If XP can only see 2GB of the hdd, whats the hdd formatted in? FAT32? NTFS? |

| 427537 | 2006-02-05 22:50:00 | Run fdisk from an appropriate boot disk and see what that says. It sounds very much like a partitioning/formatting foul-up. Using dos will give the right answer, despite MS trying its utmost to deny that dos existed in ME, and trying to hide it. |

| 427541 | 2006-02-05 23:19:00 | If running fdisk from a dos boot disk says the hard drive is only 2GB, then ergo, the problem has nothing to do with Windows ME at all, nothing at all. Edit: But if fdisk reports the drive correctly, then you do have a windows problem |
