428200 2006-02-08 04:45:00 Have a look at the "Home" setting of IE. :D Graham L (2)
428201 2006-02-08 04:45:00 Yeah, I don't think Zonealarm had anything to do with it. Because I didn't really even have it enabled much. And the changes that I did notice had more to do with the trojan remover process and reset, and also the ipconfig /release. I'm hoping a solution isn't far off. ZonerDude (9419)
428202 2006-02-08 04:57:00 I've uninstalled Zonealarm on the main computer, the second computer didn't have Zonealarm

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exe

you sure on that? the service is still there and running. if ZA is broken (ie ripped out) then you will not get net connection.

428203 2006-02-08 04:58:00 No, I meant I've just uninstalled it today while trying all these fixes. ZonerDude (9419)
428204 2006-02-08 05:22:00 Uninstalling Zonealarm is a bit drastic!, why not disable/shutdown the service until you have estabished the problem. SolMiester (139)
428205 2006-02-08 05:26:00 Well, I figured I'd uninstall it just to see whether it did anything. It didn't. So I'll probably put it on, once I've figured out how to actually connect again. ZonerDude (9419)
428206 2006-02-08 05:29:00 Nothing to protect against at the moment. :D But do have a look at the "Home" setting in Internet Explorer. ;) Graham L (2)
428207 2006-02-08 05:33:00 The homepage setting for IE is xtra.co.nz. But would that have anything to do with it when no other programs can access the internet either? ZonerDude (9419)
428208 2006-02-08 05:33:00 What are the connection details in the 'Internet Options' tab?

can you ping the ip address of the DNS server identified on the other pc?

428209 2006-02-08 05:35:00 I hoped that that might be where that 1.0.0.0 was coming from. Try a search for any file "containing" 1.0.0.0 . That might be helpful. I can't imagine that being used legitimately anywhere. Graham L (2)
