2006-02-05 22:17:00 | Hi. How can I select SATA RAID/ AHCI Mode in [AHCI] rather in[Disabled] mode.in side the Integrated Peripherals setting? As in User's Manual(Gigabyte GA-81915P Duo Pro) state the AHCI--support hotplug function under OS winXP. When I set the Sata Raid/AHCI Mode in [AHCI] the Window (XP) will not start. it keep resting in Dos mode unless I set the Sata Raid/Ahci Mode back to [Disabled] default setting.( All the rest of bios settings were in default setting) My main HD is connected on Sata0 m/board header Can you help me? please.! Thank you P.S, I thought if I set the SATA RAID/AHCI MODE in [AHCI] it may help the motherboard to recognise the NexStar 3 eSata connection(through the Sata to eSata brecket connection)

2006-02-06 00:22:00 | If that AHCI mode is part of the SATA option, I dont think it'll work, unless you have 2 SATA hdd's in RAID. Also, as stated here (www.intel.com) it's not a good idea changing the SATA option in the BIOS, once an OS has been installed. You may end up with a NTLDR error when u boot up.

2006-02-06 02:31:00 | Hi Speed Gonzales I am just trying all sorts of alternatives and methods to configrure the motherboard to recognise the NexStart 3 enclosure's eSata to sata connection.(as hot plug ) As I have bought one of the latest techology(NexStart 3 enclosure with USB and eSata to sate enternal connection)and had a hell of hard time trying to set up the connection through the eSata to sata adapter. It works fine in USB or reboot while eSata to sata adapter connection turn on. Thank you.

2006-02-06 21:26:00 | This bracket you're talking about connects to a SATA header on the mobo right? Which header is it on? 1,2 or 3? Since the hdd is on 0 . And from the outside of the case, how many USB connections are there? Just 1? Or more ? Whatever header this bracket is connected to, is it enabled in the BIOS? I cant see why you cant connect the Nexstar to a USB 2 port, since most of these enclosures are USB 2 anyway . I'm pretty sure USB2 is also hot-swappable . Well, even if USB2 isnt, you could try selecting the drive and right mouse / eject, if eject shows here, select it . It'll disconnect the Nexstar from the system, till u reconnect it again . It would be similar to using an Ipod . You eject it to take it off the system .

2006-02-06 22:23:00 | Hi Speed Gonzales, Thanks the links(Troubleshooting Sata/Raid Issue)I have a good readied about but still little confuse. Do you think if I enable the AHCI Mode inside the bios then install the OS, will it help the problem? (1 Sata HDD connected on Sata0 or it still need 2 Sata HDDs) Answer to your previous question (Is on chip sata in the BIOS set to enhanced??)No, it is set on Auto, I have tried to set it on enhanced or Combined but window will not start. it keep restarting in Dos. 1)It was connected on Sata 1 header. 2)It have 4 USB connecter at the back (3 have been use, 1 left) 3)Yes, suppose I can use the USB 2 connection but since it have eSata connection why not make advantage of it. Thank you very much.
