2006-02-09 08:31:00 | My daughter announced on Tuesday that she is pregnant. That night I saw her using her laptop on ummm, the top of her lap I guess. Any evidence on the safety of this practice for my grandchild? (Don't want glow in a in the dark baby around ... it might scare the cat) | Oggy (5399) | |
2006-02-09 08:36:00 | As far as I know there aren't any damaging effects from prolonged use of laptops, via radiation. | Haze (3028) | |

However, prolonged use of laptops has so far indicated to reduce fertility in some studies, in particular with men. You definetely won't end up with a glow-in-the-dark grandchild... though there is potential for certain diseases to result from exposure to electromagnetic fields. In real terms, with the amount that people use cellphones, and the various other devices in a home blasting radio waves around, the laptop would probably only add to the problem, rather than be solely responsible for anything which happens. |

2006-02-09 12:40:00 | It's kinda hard to believe that anyone actually uses a laptop computer on their actual lap. I'd be more worried about the woman's posture than the embryo. | Greg (193) | |
2006-02-09 17:48:00 | She could stop wearing nylon, stop using modern electronic devices, cook with an open fire, move out of the city and live a "natural" original life in a cave somewhere...... I have a friend who is a pogrammer, she spent her entire 9 months in front of PCs, laptops at home etc etc. She has a perfectly normal 8 month old daughter now - who is likely to become a programmer..... :p

2006-02-09 22:00:00 | There is some heat related problems with some laptops. | 428843 | 2006-02-11 01:26:00 | I'm 38 weeks pregnant and have been using my laptop since before I found out. As mentioned above, the only problem will be finding enough room to perch the laptop on towards the end! Of course, I may just have to eat my words if this child comes out with three heads.
