428579 2006-02-08 23:24:00 Fault in

Microsoft Outlook Explorer(OE) V6.00

Windows 98SE is the operating system

In downloading e-mails in OE the following dialog box is appearing.

“Msimn caused an invalid page fault in module DIRECT.DLL ay 019f:019c6bb1”.

In the preview pane of OE we receive the message

“Folder could not be displayed
Outlook express could not open this folder

Possible causes are:
Low disk space
Low memory”

I have 1.1gb free from a 10gb drive and 34% free space on 255 mb of Ram both of which I would have thought would have been enough room..

I have had this problem since October 2005 and it has been intermittent, by rebooting the PC it has gone away as of this week it has stopped me from reading may e-mails.
I have over this period also dumped a large number of e-mails in my folders.
I currently have 111 in the inbox, 798 in the sent and 480 in the deleted folders

I am able to see and work on the send and deleted messages folders .it is only the in folder which I don’t have access to, however I can still read text messages in my Mailwasher program.

As I have clicked the Send/ Recv button I also get the following message,

“An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'account name', Server: 'pop.actrix.co.nz', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C0131”.

From windows support

I have found a resolution but this applies to OE 5.0 not 6.0

“OLEXP: Error Message: MSIMN Caused an Invalid Page Fault in Module DIRECTDB.DLL”. Article ID: 225867

This resolution mentions a folder Messages.ods which I can’t locate on my PC, how ever this folder may not be in OE V 6.0.

I wish to be able to save my existing e-mails, and to stop this problem.
I also wish to archive my e-mails how do I go about this

Go to tools/accounts . Open your email account . Click on the servers tab .

Make sure Log on using secure password authentication is unticked .

And the option under this is also unticked (my server requires authentication) .

Then click on send and receive . See what happens .

428581 2006-02-09 00:04:00 You have a corrupted Inbox
Backup your mail folders by one of the methods here
insideoe.tomsterdam.com

After you have backed up your mail close OE and search for the inbox.dbx file
Start/Find/files or folders.
Or in OE, click Tools| Options| Maintenance| Store folder to see the path to the folder currently being used for your message store. Copy the location and paste into the search box.
When you find it delete inbox.dbx and restart OE this will create a new Inbox but will be empty.
You will then have to restore the messages from your backup but even if you don't you should now be able to access your Inbox and download mail to it.
