428448 2006-02-08 05:30:00 When you say it wont boot to CD-rom, does it try?, if not go into the BIOS, press 'delete/F2 or F10, after the POST and select 1st boot = cd-rom SolMiester (139)
428449 2006-02-08 05:30:00 Awesome. Thanks heaps. Now to find a floppy drive.... roddy_boy (4115)
428450 2006-02-08 05:33:00 Doesn't even detect CD drive. In BIOS, one of the options is "Boot Sequence", and the 2 options are c:, a:.. or a:, c:.
In IDE thingy in BIOS, it only has HD1.
What jumpers should be selected? Also, the CD drive is plugged into a PCI card.
Cheers.

bootdisk.com.
bootdisks.com is useless!!!
Thanks though you got me on the right track. Do i just chuck it on a floppy somehow then whack it in the floppy drive and it should be good as gold?

428452 2006-02-08 05:38:00 That is why it will mot boot from the cd-rom, best bet for now is to have only the hard drive you will install win98 onto and the cd-rom drive connected.....oh oh, just thought, the cd-rom is plugged into a sound blaster card isnt it, so you will not be able to boot from the cd.So, this is gonna hurt.
if you have formatted the drive, you will have to install dos onto it, then the sound blaster drivers, then once the cd drive recognised , copy the cd to a temp folder on the drive and run the install from their.

Wow this must be an old pc!

Pity you didnt do an upgrade!
