| 429913 | 2006-02-13 07:23:00 | Recently I had to reformat my master 20 gig HD to reinstall Windows 2000. The install went fine, but I go to install the 4 service packs for Windows 2000 and Service Pack 1 installs fine. Service Pack 2 seems to install fine as well and SP2 is in my Add/Remove Programs list as well as two Windows 2000 Hotfixes one saying Pre-SP2 and another saying Pre-SP4, but when I go to install Service Pack 3 or 4 they cause my computer to restart during install everytime and it always provides a small error message about WINLOGON.EXE not responding occasionally before the computer restarts. I've tried disabling my antivirus program during the installation and uninstalling service packs before SP4 installation. I don't think its spyware or virus related since I've only had net access on this computer for a few days and did a virus and spyware scan. I need Service Pack 4 to run some of the programs I use so any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. If it helps I'm running a machine with Windows 2000 Professional, AMD Sempron 3100, ATI Radeon 9550 256 MB, Maxtor 20 GB HD(master), Samsung 160 GB HD(slave), ABit motherboard, and a Lite On DVD/CD burner combo drive. |
