429108 2006-02-10 09:57:00 I have a number of music files which have copies which may be slightly differently named and have a different file size. Is there a utility that can compare/ identify files with a similar name? bpt2 (6653)

Do a custom install though & DON'T associate it with ANY files...
Just be a bit cunning when you configure it
For instance I've got 4 different versions/atists of "little Red Rooster"
Hope that helped.
Regards.

429110 2006-02-10 19:52:00 I don't think this is much of an issue if you use WMP...I have about 11 different versions of Stevie Ray Vaughn playing the same song (Voodoo Chil' With Slight Return) but on different occasions and in different venues and WMP handles them all well...there is no confusion or doubling-up.

I can play all of the same songs in the same batch even allowing them to skip around and mix them up or play them in sequence.

While they are playing, you can toggle around in them all, compare and delete the versions you want, keeping whatever makes you happy. Easy Peasy :D
