| 429164 | 2006-02-11 23:08:00 | Sounds like the MFC5440CN is quite a good machine though does it run that cleaning cycle thing like the MFC210C? Hows the ink usage on that machine? Do all the brother's MFC devices run that cleaning cycle thingy? Thanks CCF |

| 429165 | 2006-02-11 23:24:00 | All inkjets usually have a cleaning cycle, but my HP only seems to do it every few weeks, not every day (or more). While the Brother is probably a very good price, and its certainly a very good fax machine, if printing is to be the main use, I would tend to look elsewhere. |

| 429166 | 2006-02-12 02:45:00 | Well my main use for the machine would be faxing and printing and I guess photocopying too, I would assume most prints would be texts . I wouldnt mind if the scan quality is poor but if it can be decent than I wouldnt mind . Though the cleaning cycle, would the machine force you to run it? By that I mean, most of the time I would most likely have the machine turn off after use and turn on when I need to use it . Would the machine automatically run the "cleaning cycle" process the next time I turn on and there is no way to stop it? Or is it possible to stop it? Because sounds like the cleaning cycle process is quite annoying espeically on the of the ink . Thanks CCF |

I leave it on all the time, i haven't noticed it cleaning. it's alway printed straight away. unlike the epson it replaced, that used to sound like it was constipated every time. the brother prints quietly too, unlike the epson & they do linux drivers from their website. i haven't had it long enough to know about ink consumption, but the standard black cartridge is about $18 & the 900 page high capacity $44 in dse. i'm pleased with it. the epson inks cost a packet & don't last long | Phil B (648) | ||
