2006-02-13 22:31:00 | Just a head's up: Microsoft said they'll stop updating Windows 98 on 30 June. "June 30, 2006 will bring a close to Extended Support for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Me as part of the Microsoft Lifecycle Policy. Microsoft will retire public and technical support, including security updates, by this date" www.microsoft.com

2006-02-13 22:57:00 | I've forgot to mentioned, Microsoft has extended their support for Windows 98 before, after cries from affected corporations; they don't really care if home users make a up cry. | kingdragonfly (309) | |
2006-02-13 23:18:00 | After 8 years, it should have the worst bugs out, so it will run forever. :D XP will be at a comparable level by about 2100. | Graham L (2) | |
2006-02-13 23:20:00 | ;) Personally, W98se doesn't need the myriad of updates/fixes that XP does. I am running a "virgin" installation - no updates except to IE 5.5 Fast processor - plenty of memory - USb 2.0 via a PCI card. Suits me. | Peter H (220) | |
2006-02-13 23:37:00 | the only problem i get with 98se is other software requires IE6 installed. no doubt limited software will eventullly kill 98. allready there is AV's that have dropped 9x support. | tweak'e (69) | |

Why is that a problem tweak'e? There is Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack1, and security updates for it available from MS. I'd have thought you would have it already? AVG Free also auto updates with 98SE. |
