| 430002 | 2006-02-13 04:49:00 | I know this question probably has been going around a few times, but i seem to be having a bad day on searches! so decided to ask here. I'm getting broadband free for 6 months from my education provider (YAY!!) but the small problem is, my mum refuses for me to network the computers so she can have broadband too...(who would refuse broadband!!) so she wants to know, can she still connect with dialup even if my computer is on connected broadband? I am assuming yes because broadband takes up "half the line" as it leaves phone free for use...but I just want to be sure... If tis not possible, is there any way 2 get around this? I look forward to getting this solved lol. Chris |

| 430004 | 2006-02-13 04:54:00 | No Problem. ;) It is necessary to have a filter on the dial up modem's input, if you haven't got the "proper" splitter feeding all the "phone" sockets. The ADSL modem sees the exchange line "bare" because it uses all the frequency range. The dialup modem, and phones, should not see the high frequencies used by ADSL. |

I dont blame her though, hasnt quite got around to understanding the difference of it yet apart from speed, and she hasnt seen broadband yet. she'd realise its handy and awesome :D But thanks so much guys, glad to know that it can still be accessed even if broadband is on :) |
