| 430555 | 2006-02-15 05:33:00 | whats the difference between single and double sided? does it matter if i use pc100 or pc133? im using a compaq deskpro EN system that i got from my dads work for $20 celeron 500/66Mhz skt370 128MB single sided sdram (2x64) 6gig hdd, 15" moniter, cdrom, floppy im looking on trademe and im thinking of getting a p3 800mhz chip for $40 with heatsink/fan and shipping. so i thought i shoudl get some extra ram while im at it. and move the ram thats in teh compaq into another system, and then move the edo in that into yet anotehr system... etc... |

| 430556 | 2006-02-15 06:06:00 | with the celeron it won't matter if its pc100 or pc133. however the p3 800 will need pc133 ram. also some p3 mobo's don't like certian ram configs. double sided is more likly to work and some motherboards NEED to have low density ram. (needs 8 chips a side rather than 4, most new ram is 4 a side) | tweak'e (69) | ||

Only if the Motherboard manufacturer supported them. But if it supports PC133 then you should get up to 1.1 Ghz P3. Presumably with a bios upgrade ONLY if nessacary |

| 430560 | 2006-02-15 07:50:00 | In can be a real nightmare with these older machines (yip they typically want low density ram). Something like this (www.memoryx.net). Looks like it will have to be 16 chip at 256 MB size ..they seem to cost heaps in NZ. Max is 512MB. Non-kingston (i.e. generic) will *probably* be fine, just has to be low density i.e 8 chips per side. Compaq manuals should list what CPUs are supported/look at bios updates too. |

| 430561 | 2006-02-15 08:02:00 | 2x 128MB is abuot all i need, depending on how well 2x 64mb performs. the mobo is a intel 810 based chipset. 66/100mhz fsb supported. so should the 800mhz p3 run? |
