430313 2006-02-14 20:40:00 Hey Guys.

I know there are a lot of these threads, and I have searched them, but my system is running hot, CPU at 47 load and I don't want it that high, so I was thinking of cutting a hole in the top and putting a 120mm fan to blow out, I have heard about the Delta electronics fans and I was looking at this (www.delta.com.tw), but this produces 64 or 59db and seems a little loud

I am wanting something that is relatively quiet, 120mm but with a fair CFM, at least over 150CFM.

Also how can I measure the noise of the case as it is now? it is fairly loud at the moment

I guess I could make a little temperature thing to change the speed of the fan as the temperature increases somehow

Thanks

There's nothing wrong with that temp.... especially if they are at load... I run my 3Ghz @ 3.4Ghz and my idle temp is usually around 41 - 43 degrees.

You honestly don't need any extra cooling with those temps.

It is a known fact that the AMD CPU's run a lot cooler than the Intel ones.

430316 2006-02-14 21:04:00 The stock HSF is on but I want the whole case cooler, the system temp is reading up to 50 under video encoding, and the GFX card is around the 83 mark on games and this will also benefit form more extraction, everything will benefit from extracting more hot air :) The_End_Of_Reality (334)

430318 2006-02-14 21:10:00 It'll most probably turn the system off anyway, if the temp gets too high.

I wouldnt worry about it.

430319 2006-02-14 21:12:00 Yes, I have set the shutdown temp in the BIOS to 60 The_End_Of_Reality (334)

newer ones might but the older amd cpu's were hotter running than intel as a general rule.....

430321 2006-02-14 21:43:00 what sort of temps should I worry about? Well after gaming and benchmarking the highest I've seen my CPU temp go up to is 55 degrees. I would set my failsafe temp to about 65 maybe 70 degrees. I would also recommend getting a 3rd party HSF, the stock coolers on either of the Intel or AMD CPU's genereally don't do as good a job as they could.

cheers
