430310 2006-02-14 20:09:00 Hi there

Just a day ago I went and picked up a computer that I've lended to a family relative to use. Specs are CMV 15" LCD CT-522A, AGP GeforceFX 5200 and WinXP Pro.

Now that I have it back I found that the LCD doesnt show very focus text, such as text on the desktop and even on web pages. The feeling is like a person who doesnt need glasses but wears them and uses it to look at a computer, that sort of un-focus feeling. I first thought it was the monitor Hz has been set too low, but when I've checked, it was ok, on 75Hz. Then I switched the CMV LCD to a Mag 15" LCD, that was the same too, the text were just really really tiring to look at. Since that didnt work, I went to the advance settings for the graphic card (forceware driver) and had a look around to see if anything would help to make the text more focus to read, but found nothing. After that I decided to use my computer (Radeon9000) to see if it was the monitor or possibly the gfx card that was causing the tiring texts. After switching it, I found if I adjusted the LCD in a certain angle the text became a bit more focused but some how it felt that the monitor Hz was quite low but when I've checked the Hz, it was running at 75Hz like usual, but some how it just felt it was not right. I'm sure some of you people out there can feel that too, when the Hz is just abit low.

So basically what I've done is like shown below

Radeon + Mag LCD = Text Focused, perfect.
Radeon + CMV LCD = Decent Focus but felt like low Hz
FX5200 + CMV LCD = Text Un-focused
FX5200 + Mag LCD = Text Un-focused

Also I've tried with another older computer, running 98Se with 8mb integrated graphics.

Integrated G + CMB LCD = Text Focused, almost perfect.

All the resolution was at its natural resolution, which was 1024 x 768, running at 32bit colour. All was set to 75Hz. Both Radeon and Fx5200 computer were running WinXP Pro.

So what does this mean? The CMV LCD is stuff? Or the Fx5200? Or both? Though if I was to sell it, how much would I be able to sell it for? Such as on trademe?

Thanks
