1397991 2015-04-04 02:14:00 Hi all, I have the new fritzbox modem connected and Orcon says its all good to go. This is the speed Im getting. It is slower than when I was on ultra fast fibre. Thoughts on these speeds would be appreciated
58.14Mb/s downloading and 1.9Mb/s up

1397992 2015-04-04 04:28:00 Where is the speed test being done to? Are you on wired or wireless? Fritzbox's are supplied by Snap, not Orcon. Alex B (15479)

1397994 2015-04-04 08:56:00 Ring Orcon, but have the modem they supply plugged in so they can rule out the modem. Alex B (15479)
1397995 2015-04-04 10:24:00 I only have the frtizbox they supplied. I had to send the old one back. I will give them a call in the morning. Thank you for the replies. ollieogg (6593)
1397996 2015-04-04 10:36:00 So the connection from your router, via the Chorus "Gigatown" fibre network, back to the Orcon datacenter are all gigabit. The problem is likely from there that Orcon aren't going to be giving you gigabit speeds. The joys of blatantly advertising you "don't throttle or slow down your customers" means that once they hit the bandwidth cap, natural congestion control takes place in the network protocols.

They're not "Throttling" you, but if you have 100 people all trying to watch 100 different YouTube videos in 1080p, on a 100mbps pipe, it ain't gonna work. Extrapolate appropriately.

In other words, based on all I've personally been hearing lately about Orcon, that wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they were the issue, and not your router / gigabit connection / test-server.
