Yep, that would be the British point of veiw of course. Im sure the old german pilots would disagree :-)
Smaller, lighter, better engine, better guns

Wasnt the hurricane the most nimble of those 3 early war planes ?

1386513 2014-10-20 22:06:00 Its just been sold.

Some interesting prices for warbirds . Not sure why the P-38 has such a high price tag ($6.7M) . Or why such a high price for a skyhawk.

I would have sworn we won the war.

1386515 2014-10-20 23:49:00 The British were losing, just like the previous war they declared. Their bacon was saved by others which, in accordance with tradition, they declared as their victory.
They did provide some of their their own boot polish though.
The Hurricane was not as nimble as the spitfire, but it was far more reliable, downed more enemy aircraft, and killed less of it's pilots. However, the spitfire had better publicity, which worked the same way it does for Apple.

Shame they were asleep at Pearl Harbour tho !.

Asleep tooo in WW1 until they lost a liner to a U-Boat.

Oh well, they haven't won a battle since WW11 either.

Lurking.

Ps. further to the original post, as kids we used to only sketch the Spitfire, might even have a drawing around in old papers.

lurks.

Gulf war they won, twice
Grenada : won
plus the various tinpot countries they 'liberated'
Korea : a draw
Cuba : they got others to invade on their behalf , so didnt really loose that one I guess.
Vietnam : run away, run away
Afghanistan : preparing to run away, run away
