Adobe has just given us a graphic demonstration of how not to handle security and privacy issues.

A hacker acquaintance of mine has tipped me to a huge security and privacy violation on the part of Adobe. That anonymous acquaintance was examining Adobe’s DRm for educational purposes when they noticed that Digital Editions 4, the newest version of Adobe’s Epub app, seemed to be sending an awful lot of data to Adobe’s servers.

My source told me, and I can confirm, that Adobe is tracking users in the app and uploading the data to their servers.

What fun!

1386338 2014-10-15 21:41:00 Im astounded that ANYONE could really be surprised this is happening.
This sort of thing has been happening at least since the Win95 install(upgrade?) got caught rummaging through the HD to see what was on there & sending that info to MS
Somehow, its allways 'a mistake' , 'or never intended to do that', despite paying someone to write the code to do this (or building hardware specificly to do this)

Its pretty common for big companies to slurp as much info as possible.
And its only ebooks we are talking about ? (for now)

Users at work use Adobe Creative Cloud, but none of them use DE4 as far as I know.
