| 1386090 | 2014-10-13 02:04:00 | No problem, I also know someone doing that game design course in Auckland. Can inquire about what that entails if you'd like? That would be awesome thanks - is it just one paper? Can you please tell me the paper number too :D Lol so what I gathered from the other replies is cheap booze and hot vet chicks.... Other than that, yes I think I had a bit of the 'get away from Mum' syndrome, but someone I know suggested that I live at home for a semester until I'm settled in, and then maybe go flatting, which sounds like fun :D I think overall I've come to the conclusion that I'll go to Massey - it's essentially the same course and the sport and culture here is really good. I'll use the extra money to build a half decent desktop :D That sort of segways to my next question then, parts. As said previously, I'm looking at having an AMD 6300 FX processor, an AMD R9 270 gpu (not sure which brand one yet, probably the cheapest), some standard DDR3 1600 RAM (8gb), a EVGA 100-W1-500-KR 500W power supply, and a 1TB 7200 RPM hard drive, all fitting inside a Fractal Design Core 1000 Mini Tower case. For the motherboard I'm thinking about this www.ebay.com Any more suggestions? I'm on a budget of about $1100 which would include a monitor which I know isn't much, but it's all I can afford at the moment. I was inspired by this build here www.gamespot.com Any suggestions would be much appreciated! This would be my primary gaming machine. Thanks everyone so much, the help has been fantastic! |

As for the game programming paper it is 159.103 and is only available during summer school next year. As for the PC this maybe: nz.pcpartpicker.com No need to buy windows, doing computing papers at most universities in NZ gets you access to MSDNAA which means you get access to a whole range of Microsoft software for educational purposes. |

| 1386092 | 2014-10-19 10:31:00 | I attended Massey University , Palmerston North. I liked it because it was cheap and convenient . Everything was close and there weren't that many people around. I stayed a hostel called Baxters in the second year and I pretty much like stayed there for the next 3 years. The people in Palmy were really nice and I met a friend who would end up being my best friend. We spent alot of time together and studying. The students are pretty nice in Massey and the teachers at the uni were very helpful and easy going. The good thing in palmy is that all full time students can catch the buses for free so it saved me a lot of money having to catch the bus every day to massey and to city. There were plenty of bus routes available so it doesn't matter if you live outside of city area. As long as you catch 12A,12B,12,15,14 buses and you have a massey ID with you to tag on to the bus its a free ride. It's probably not suitable who enjoy night life. The city becomes really quiet at night . I say go to palmy! . You'll love the people there. I'm going to palmy next month.. Probably see you there ?haha |
