1398070 2015-04-05 11:35:00 I have Microsoft Security running on Windows 7. Today I downloaded a password managing program. Before opening it I scanned the file with Microsoft Security and found nothing. I then scanned it with Malware Bytes and found two Trojans. Just how good is Microsoft Security? mzee (3324)
1398071 2015-04-05 11:50:00 On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being excellent ------- maybe 2 wainuitech (129)
1398072 2015-04-05 11:55:00 Pretty sure Microsoft themselves said that no one should use MSE without another AV installed.

Edit: www.fixedbyvonnie.com

I believe it was designed to be built into Windows 8.

1398073 2015-04-05 12:13:00 Even the inbuilt one in Windows 8 / 8.1, while better than having nothing, its not by much. wainuitech (129)
1398074 2015-04-06 11:08:00 I have been experimenting. First installed Ad-Aware anti virus. It took about an hour to install, and then needed updating. I had to register it, tried 3 times unsuccessfully. By this time I had run out of patience, so uninstalled it. I then installed AVG and did a scan, found one greeby, but the computer was as slow as a wet week. I then installed NOD32, no problems, did a scan and found 11 files which it wanted to delete. They were all my old software which have been used for years, I rescued them and uninstalled NOD32. Now back with Microsoft Security and Malware Bytes and will remain so. Computer is back up to speed too. mzee (3324)
1398075 2015-04-07 05:52:00 Finally got around to ditching MSE and installing Panda. Seems to be working ok. b.... (7683)
1398076 2015-04-07 06:26:00 installed NOD32, no problems, did a scan and found 11 files which it wanted to delete. They were all my old software which have been used for years, I rescued them and uninstalled NOD32. ------- Now back with Microsoft Security Thats a great laugh :D, just because they are programs that have been used for years doesn't mean they are clean ;)

You do know you can tell Nod to white-list or ignore any thing it finds if you still want it ?

Bit like a customer who once complained about Nod stopping him going to infected porn sites, so he disabled Nod, went and did what ever :xmouth: Then enabled Nod and cleaned out his computer of the infections :groan:
