| 1481548 | 2021-10-26 18:22:00 | Have changed premises which means a new user name and password. Easy enough to change on the PC but I am wanting to use Chromecast which, of course, connects to the net and will need to be updated but I don't know how to change it. Your help is appreciated.:thanks |

Checking the dongle it is plugged in and there is a small light glowing on the side which I surmise means that it is going, so I can't see what to do. | Roscoe (6288) | ||

| 1481552 | 2021-10-26 22:26:00 | You HAVE to use a Phone or tablet these days - as it says in the site Important: We no longer support Chromecast setup on a computer. To set up your Chromecast, use a mobile device. Full instructions support.google.com |

| 1481554 | 2021-10-27 02:32:00 | I think that I have told you incorrectly. We have had Chromecast for some time now and have changed providers in that time. What we did - and did not use a phone - was to change the network name and password. I need to do that again, but I do not remember how - I do not need to set up Chromecast. It is already set up. It is the same name and password that I use on my PC to access the internet. What I need to know is how to access the area where I can change the network name and password. Hopefully that is a little more clear. |

| 1481555 | 2021-10-27 03:35:00 | The easiest way is to factory reset the Chromecast and then follow the instructions given in the link Wainuitech provided and set it up as a new device. | CliveM (6007) | ||

Followed the instructions and it works fine. It required more than a user name and password. I'd much rather watch a video on the big screen and not the laptop and, of course, there's a big improvement in the sound as well. One thing I wondered about - how does it tell the difference between a PC and a phone? Your help is appreciated.:thanks |

| 1481557 | 2021-11-09 21:11:00 | One thing I wondered about - how does it tell the difference between a PC and a phone? For joining /setting up, its basically the way the software is written. With newer versions, Chromecast setup software only works on Androids or Apple devices, which is different to Windows ( or linux /MAC OS). When a device is streaming to Chromecast, the Connection is already created, and a PC / Laptop will usually stream better Quality. For example I can cast to our Veon TV from the desktop PC and it plays great, only tried it once from the phone - gave up on that within a few seconds as it was :yuck: :D |
