1478239 2021-06-27 04:58:00 More and more I am finding when I open a web page it immediately leaps to the bottom of the page, which can be really confusing, and annoying when above it are miles and miles of comments etc.
Questions;
Why has this started happening?
Can I stop it?

Browser is Firefox 89.0.2

1478240 2021-06-27 05:12:00 That's likely an issue with the website itself rather than your browser.

I have 1 site in particular that has started doing this and it was after the company "updated" their website... new layout etc. ever since the update if I'm at the bottom of the current page and click on the next page arrow of a product category, it takes me to the bottom of the next page... I have tested this with multiple browsers and the result is the same across 3 different browsers.

If you want to rule out your browser as the issue, try the site on different browsers and see if the issue is replicated.

Cheers,

I agree that it is almost certainly a web page issue rather than a browser issue. I was reading something the other day about web page loading and it implied that this might be the result of some techniques that are being used to load pages and display the required fonts more quickly. I'm just hoping there is some way around it because atm is is a total PITA.
An Mushhead, no it is not a stuck key.

Thanks for the links. The posts therein are several years old, and the comments imply that the problem still exists. It also appears to be aimed at mobile rather than desktop, although it does say it will help with desktop. Enabling "Smooth scrolling"in Chrome does seem to help, but I have that enable in FF and it is making no difference.

1478245 2021-06-29 11:26:00 Ads can also cause a page to leap about. Try an Ad Blocker. Paul.Cov (425)
1478246 2021-06-29 11:49:00 Why can't you give us the link to a problem page so we can see if we have the same problem as you? zqwerty (97)

Good idea. Try this one:itsnotcomplicatedrecipes.com
This shows the behaviour in Firefox, Chrome and Edge, but not in Brave. Firefox has adblock plus ebnabled, the others do not.
