1477949	2021-06-16 08:17:00	I use and am very happy with Nod32. However I have seen this being promoted on a different forum and wonder what the Techs think of it. Cylance (www.nzhuntingandshooting.co.nz) I have no idea if its any good or not hence the question seeing as it seems to be cheaper and could be an option for those on a tighter budget.	gary67 (56)

Its web based so not actually fully installed on the computer, theres no actual scan option and needs a working internet connection to work. One thing discovered - NO trial - only a 30 day money back option, so you have to pay for it to even try it, theres no way to contact them if problems only an email address or online form --- No thanks. 1477951	2021-06-16 13:27:00	As Wainui said, it requires an Internet connection at all times... I had a customer who moved from McAfee to Cylance (basically from the worst AV product to one slightly better, but still bad... in my opinion) it DID NOT go well. The constant scanning by Cylance caused severe user frustration because it would lock up their computer. Memory usage would tank and the CPU was constantly pegged at 80% or above even when the user was doing nothing. Further to that, if the computer had no active Internet connection Cylance would trigger a Windows notification which for some unknown reason could not be disabled. On top of that if you disabled say your Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet adapter, Cylance would then complain that it "cannot connect to the Cylance network" which would then trigger a whole new set of notifications. I am also very skeptical of the concept of "stopping a virus before it gets to your computer" that is no different to what most current AV's do except they stop the virus once it's been detected on the computer and unless it's a new virus which has never been seen before I don't see how Cylance is meant to be better when it uses more or less the same heuristic and detection engines AVs such as ESET does except in real-time.... the only difference being that apparently Cylance can do things before it gets to your computer.... just a newly flavored snake oil if you ask me.	chiefnz (545)

People , incl techs , can get quite blinkered in their AV recommendations, to the point they ignore a products issues . Every AV product has issues (even Nod) . Anyway , this is interesting .
