Having the advantage of being in the Southern Hemisphere Australia and New Zealand have both received our share if the virus in its various iterations well after those in the Northern Hemisphere so we have the advantage of seeing what others have done and what has worked and what has not. How come our so called experts and leaders are not taking that into consideration and insist on enforcing policies which have not worked anywhere else? Just for one example Lock Downs have had minimal success in preventing Covid but massive effect on the economies of countries everywhere they have been enforced. |

But the collateral damage to the economy and the mental health of thousands of people cannot be overlooked, either. The optimum solution is 100% vaccination with a vaccine that is 100% efficacious but that has not been invented yet so we must make do with what we have. I would have no problem with the 'picnics' and 'protests' if I could be sure that every participant was fully vaccinated. Were they? I doubt it. One section of the unvaccinated are blaming the government for not offering them the vaccine in a culturally appropriate manner. This despite the fact that they have had the same chances as anyone else in this country and better than some. Then they describe the offering of potentially life-saving measures as racist and refuse based on "distrust of the Crown" because of events 150 years ago. Meanwhile, people get sick and die because of a lack of caring who might be harmed. Oh, and the wearing of masks may be culturally inappropriate too. I sure wish I didn't have to wear one when I perceive the risk to be small but I do so on a just-in-case basis. |

Only responsible people respond to kindness. The others see it as weakness to be exploited e.g. the Brian Tamaki gang. | Neil F (14248) | ||

HERE (sunlive.co.nz) The Labour Government is dependant upon their Maori Caucus to remain in power so they will go along with whatever that faction of their party demands. That group of Maori politicians are well aware that unless they get what they want now that they are highly unlikely to do as well out of whoever the next lot in power happen to be so they will push as hard as they can now for whatever they can get. |

Well the Maori Activists within Caucus are going to have to be a lot smarter than I give them credit for, because the next Government, providing its not Labour, are bound to call in the Auditors to check where the money has gone. We have had similar situations in the past and in case you need reminding HERE (www.nzherald.co.nz) is one. Apart from Money matters, we have the Virus promises. Well for a start we were never going to Eliminate the Virus. Control Yes, Eliminate No. Take a look at THIS (journal.nzma.org.nz). Yes it is Measles, but see if you can find anything in common. ;) |
