I'm not sure what you mean by the last sentence. 11023 Every power supply Ive seen allows an 8 pin plug to be split in 2. The 2 halves just unclip. That cap thing in the pic is irrelevant . Split the plug in 2 (unclip) , you now have a correct 4 pin plug . There are often other 6pin connectors on the Power supply, they are for video cards not mb . You may be looking at the wrong lead ? |

Bingo! I did not know that, and yes it does split, although that is not obvious that it can. So I now have connected it all up and the potentially fried mobo does POST, which was the whole point of the exercise. So my Ali Express purchase is now redundant, but I suspect I won't be able to cancel it. That cap thing in the pic is irrelevant It is only irrelevant if you can't split the plug :) |

Of course I don't actually need it now, but it can add to my box full of semi-useless junk. I notice that the item on the Ali Express webpage is now reduced in price to 1c. |
