1481847 2021-11-04 22:24:00 I was looking for a particular type of music when I came across these:

50s - www.youtube.com

60s - www.youtube.com

70s - www.youtube.com

They are only brief snippets but enough for a bit of nostalgia. The second half of the 50s and the first half of the 60s are dominated by Elvis and the second half of the 60s are dominated by you know who.

If you were listening to the radio in those decades I am certain that you will enjoy.:)

1481848 2021-11-04 22:42:00 Whats surprising it how similar popular(pop) music across those decades are

a slow ballad is allways a slow ballad
novelty songs were always novelty songs
rock , rock & roll was there before it was termed that , you can hear it a few the early 50's songs in that vid

I was expecting to hear huge changes in the 50's vid as R&R took over. I was surprised the changes were quite minor (no pun) :)

What decade do think had the worst examples of popular music. I would guess 70's and 80's ?

They just take an adjustment. Like going from a rotary phone to a cellphone. There's good and bad stuff from all eras.
Think about "classical" music. We only really listen to a select few that have stood the test of time. Never hear about the composers that didn't make it, they're lost to the sands of time.

And yeah, I'm a huge fan of the Everley brothers. The great grandfathers of so many modern bands

1481852 2021-11-05 02:44:00 I liked 50s to 80s, 90s left me a bit disappointed.

From memory, at the Millennium when they were making list of "Best tune of the decades" they didn't pick one for the 90s as there wasn't any good music written in that 10 year period. Probably an urban myth but, heck, I go along with that reasoning! :)

My father was brought up with 40s music and that's what he used to say about the 60s music. He reckoned that he couldn't understand the words and they had little or no tune. But he did like The Beatles and said of them that at least they had a decent tune.

So it's not so much that the present day music is rubbish (that is shown by some of the present day artists who are making millions) it's just different from what we are used to. The youngsters of today like it and don't have much time for your music, so it goes both ways. Best idea is for you to continue listening to your choice and leave the youngsters to enjoy todays music.

So try and be a little patient, Bryan - enjoy your choice and let the teenagers enjoy theirs.

1481854 2021-11-05 18:37:00 The 70's were the stand out years for great music, it had it all from Glam rock to disco. Even now good music can be found if you look for it.

My modern playlist includes Greta Van Fleet and old style rock band of young musicians that are all from one family.
