My D-Link DSL modem needs repowering on a weekly basis. Every weekend it stops working and has to be re-powered before it will provide internet and Exchange e-mail access. Occasionally this happens on other days of the week too. Not a problem when you are in the same city, but how do I re-power the modem from overseas? And why should I have to? Interestingly, the first message while waiting in IHUG AU's help queue is: "Your DSL modem may need re-powering on a regular basis. Unplug for at least 90 seconds...". Is this a common problem? |

Not sure as to the model of your D-Link modem but they should not have to be powered up the way yours is.You may have a fault on the line that causes it or even some piece of electrical machinery that fires up and causes it to drop out.Modern modems do have a setting in the configurations that allows you to set it to automaticly restart if it does drop out. |

Do you have all phone type devices with filters? What model is it and is it still under warranty? |

Once I had a problem with a computer which would sometimes hang up, and it needed a 100 km round trip to restart it. I plugged it into a timeswitch which would turn it off and on again about midnight every day.
Sometimes simple solutions suffice. :D |
