| 431361 | 2006-02-16 14:28:00 | i have recently bought a plug and play hard drive, but i cannot put any data on it as i get the error message: "Cannot find specified file" My computer is FAT32 and the HDD is NFTS, does this make a difference? I can put some single files on it, but when i try to delete them i get the same error message, whats happening? |

| 431362 | 2006-02-16 22:22:00 | What operating system are you using? Windows 2000 and Windows XP can read both NTFS and FAT32, Windows ME or earlier will not. Have you formatted the external drive? |

| 431364 | 2006-02-19 12:46:00 | could the problem be the BIOS? i havent updated it since i bought the computer, so should i update it? | ChunkyMunky (9717) | ||
| 431365 | 2006-02-19 22:59:00 | Updating the BIOS is not without risk so should only be done as a very last resort and even then only if upgrading is known to fix a certain issue. How did you try formatting your external drive? Does it show up in Disk Management when it is plugged in? |
