432424 2006-02-20 09:19:00 I installed a copy of TweakXP last night in an attempt to change something else, and now all of my icons, including icons like the ones in the folder tree in Explorer are now showing in some low resolution mode .

I have been into Control Panel / Display - and checked out everything there, but it's no different to what it was before - 1024 x 768 - colour quality medium (16 bit) .

Those are the settings I had when everything was fine .

I went right through TweakXP but couldn't find anything to do with the icon resolution .

Photos and pictures still show Ok, it's just these damn icons that don't look right .

I have the latest drivers installed for the graphics adapter .

Any ideas?

432426 2006-02-21 02:35:00 You may want to make sure you're not using the Accessibility Options High COntrast mode

Start...Settings...Control Panel
Accessibility Options
Display
clear the "Use High Contrast" checkbox, if set

432427 2006-02-21 11:04:00 I've tried changing the colour mode to 32bit and it then resizes the screen to 800 x 600 and it looks even worse (I'm using an LCD screen). The graphics adaptor in this machine is a cheapy PCI one with minimal memory.

The high contrast mode wasn't checked.

The strange thing is that everything was Ok before I installed TweakXP.

I have also noticed that my wallpaper image is less than best resolution as well.. so maybe everything has dropped.

Maybe it's time for a new graphics card.

432429 2006-02-21 17:17:00 frankly the human eye wont even notice the difference between 16bit and 32bit colour. and theres nothign wrong with 16bit colour it certainly wouldn't be the culprit here......... drcspy (146)
