2006-02-19 18:37:00 | I am new to new zealand and I found a website called http://www.pricespy.co.nz/ and I was wondering if any of you guys have ever used it and if all the sites listed are legit. Thanks for the help.

2006-02-19 19:11:00 | It can be good in that it lists most of the shops in NZ. And you can search by Sellers too to find who is in your area. BUT you get what you pay for. Avoid Supercheap who come up top in most categories. They operate by selling dirt cheap but you can expect mostly rubbish components and NO after sales service? Doesn't work? Oh, too bad....

2006-02-19 19:33:00 | It's basicly just a list of "Who's got what and at what price". Just because a company is listed doesn't mean they are good or bad.

2006-02-19 19:38:00 | That site is a pretty decent guide to current prices. BUT, don't go for the cheapest listed - some of the shops listing the lowest prices are scammers, and cheat Pricespy's system. Usually the 3rd or 4th lowest price listed is about what you can expect if you shop around. | Greg (193) | |
2006-02-20 05:12:00 | I was looking to buy some speakers and I found this site. http://www.emergetech.co.nz/ anyone have any dealings with this site. I emailed them and there was a promt email but it came at 11 at night on a sunday and if it really were a buisness i dont think anyone would be there at 11 on sunday. can anyone reccomend a new zealand site that sells computer electronics and has decent prices and is reliable. Thanks for the help, while I was in NY which is where I was before I moved back I would use ebay as it is just huge and you have the feedback system but even trade me just isnt that big compared to ebay where you can literally find anything.

2006-02-20 05:21:00 | ... and if it really were a buisness i dont think anyone would be there at 11 on sunday. It appears to be a one-man business, so he probably is working late at night. Probably 7 days a week. There are quite a few such businesses in NZ. There might be some even in New York. | Graham L (2) | |

You mean it might not be a SHOP. Its still a business. And you should be pleased he emailed you then instead of having to wait until Monday 9am. Plenty of businesses work from home. |

2006-02-20 07:22:00 | The most helpful, after sales service focussed guy I've dealt with has a business that is home based. Emails from him at any time of day or night (and any day of the week), 11pm, 4am, whenever! Certainly don't be put off by someone who doesn't stick to office hours. | Grimy (3041) | |
2006-02-20 07:49:00 | O ok thanks for the help I'm just used to NY where is just huge buisnesses. It is really reassuring to see there are good small buisnesses in New Zealand. I just wasnt sure whether it would be legit because if that happened in NY it would throw me off completly. So do you guys think that site looks alright, I am spending $230 on some logitech 2.1 speakers.

2006-02-20 08:57:00 | BUT, don't go for the cheapest listed - .... Not always true - I have just ordered a camera from the cheapest for that model - Canon A410 (www.expressgroup.co.nz). I know from a personal contact that this is a reputable firm (a chemist in Gore believe it or not!). As long as you do a bit of research the cheapest can be fine. On the other hand - there is eTop - don't get me started on them!
