| 432071 | 2006-02-19 06:02:00 | I've owned a copy of Simcity 4 for over a year now which I bought off Trademe. The game has always run perfectly and I've never had any problems with it up until now. I've only just discovered that there's been a patch around for Simcity 4 for over 2 years now which fixes a lot of problems. I downloaded it and tried to install but I got the following error message: Simcity_1.dat not found. However a file of the same name was found. Not patched due to file contents not matching. Continue? I clicked continue the first time and all that happened was my Simcity installation stopped working. I've tried everything including searching the web and contacting EA support to no avail. What I believe is that the file could possibly be corrupted on the disc itself. In that case would anyone be willing to burn, upload or send me a patched copy of the file? I own an original copy of Simcity 4 and I wouldn't think it would be against any law or rule to replace one file. |

Either the trademe game was a good copy or its the wrong version - ie USA vs UK or something. If you have run the game for this long then why bother with the patch at all? |

| 432076 | 2006-02-19 22:00:00 | Ran a Nero CD-DVD speed scandisc on the Simcity disc 2 and found that there are quite a few bad sectors. However you are right in saying that it shouldn't run if the disc was bad. I really want the patch because it addresses just about every gripe I've ever had with the game. I'll try doing it in safe mode plus download other country patches and post the result soon. |

I tried running the patch in safe mode to no avail but then after closely reading the stuff written on my disc I decided to download the SKU2 update for Europe along with a whole lot of other countries and it worked! I'm now finally enjoying the game the way I was meant to. Thanks very much for all your help guys. :thumbs: |
