Peach today has had terrible lag and each time i check cpu its full on 100%, now i know it spikes up when you open TM but surely it wont sit there at 100% would it?

and how many things run of the mill things should be running at this point?
how many processors?

the delay in mouse clicks and things gets quite bad, what usually cause's a spike like that or continous cpu like that?

how can i eliminate some of these non essential processors?

431993 2006-02-19 04:00:00 What OS and what programs are you using to access the net?
Specs of computer if possible would be nice.

Just TM's site? what other site do you notice the delay?

I've managed to get the number of processes in my XP computer down to about 22 after logging in.

431994 2006-02-19 04:00:00 If you open the Task Manager and go to the Processes tab then click on the CPU column title a couple of times it will put the items that are using the most CPU time at the top. Let us know what the name is that is causing your CPU to be at 100%. CYaBro (73)
431995 2006-02-19 04:22:00 I was running windows media player as well, but no change in shutting that.

431996 2006-02-19 04:29:00 Is the ashWebsv.exe staying at about 100% all the time?
That file is part of avast Antivirus, the web scanning side of it.

431997 2006-02-19 04:35:00 mdm.exe
jusched.exe
and nvsvc32.exe could be disabled with no apparent problems.

I cant see anything nasty there though.

431999 2006-02-19 04:37:00 Avast must of lost the plot, so just do a reboot and watch to make sure it doesn't reoccur. :) Jen (38)
432000 2006-02-19 04:43:00 mdm.exe - Machine Debug Manager : Definitely not nesscary and disabling will save a little memory

jusched.exe - Sun Java Update Scheduler : probably not needed

nvsvc32.exe - NVIDIA Driver Helper Service : hmm leave that in case...

Oh, qttask.exe is not really needed unless you use quicktime a lot.

432001 2006-02-19 04:52:00 never used quick time............
seems a re boot helped...

the systems idle process thingy is doing the 97 - 99 thing...but??? no idea either.

thanxs seems to have fixed the lag and jittery mouse....

:D
